Crazy Brownies

This week, my roommates and I made Crazy Brownies! These brownies get their name from the extra layers. The bottom layer is chocolate chip cookie dough, the middle layer is Oreos, and the top layer is brownie batter! It is a chocolatey, sugary mountain of yummy! For this recipe, we made our own chocolate chip cookie dough. Here is the recipe:

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour see notes below
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter see notes below, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
INSTRUCTIONS
  • In a medium bowl, sift the flour, baking soda and salt together.
  • In another large bowl, using an electric mixer at medium speed beat together the butter, and sugars until smooth and mixed together well.
  • Add the egg and vanilla and mix on low speed until mixed in.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture and mix in until just incorporated. Do not keep mixing – do not overmix.
  • Add chocolate chips and stir with a wooden spoon, again no overmixing, just until incorporated.

Once you’ve made your cookie dough, spread it along the bottom of your brownie pan (or any deep dish pan). On top of the cookie dough, add one layer of Oreos. For our brownies, we used boxed brownies so feel free to use that or make your own batter! Once your brownie batter is made, pour it on top of your cookie dough/Oreo layers.

This is what it should look like before the brownie batter is evenly spread!

Next, follow the oven temperature and baking time of the brownies. For mine, it was 350° for an hour!

Once it’s finished, let it cool and enjoy!
